Background

The Socio-Economic Impact Assessment System (SEIAS) was approved by Cabinet in February 2015. It is a unique methodology for assessing the social and economic impact of policies, legislation, regulations, and other subordinate legislation in line with our national priorities. The SEIAS Guidelines requires Departments to publish the final impact assessment report accompanied by the Proposal on the Departments and The Presidency websites, unless both documents contain matters affecting national security that may be classified.

Purpose

To provide a record of all SEIAS processes and reports undertaken by the DHET.

Objectives

• To provide an electronic information sharing platform
• To promote transparency in policy development
• To contribute to the body of knowledge for policy and legal experts involved in public policy and law making
