Programme outline

The Brazilian Government's Exchange Programme for Graduate Students (PEC-PG) offers students the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The Programme provides the opportunity to students who come from selected developing countries, including South Africa, for training of postgraduate students in Brazilian HEIs.     What the scholarship offers

      • Admission to Capes recommended HEIs in Brazil, without tuition costs
      • Monthly scholarship to the value of R $ 1500.00 for Master's studies, for a maximum period of 24 months, and R $ 2200,00 for PhD studies, for a maximum period of 48 months
      • Return costs to home country

    Who can apply?

    Students from selected developing countries including South Africa. In addition, applicants must possess a Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras). Examinations for obtaining the Certificate are offered every semester by the Brazil-South Africa Cultural Centre. A preparatory course for Celpe-Bras is also available at the Brazil-South Africa Cultural Centre.
