20 February 2017 - The Department of Higher Education and Training has reiterated the government's commitment to funding the 2017 fee adjustments for poor, working class and missing middle students at universities and TVET colleges, whose family incomes are below the R600 000 ceiling as announced by Minister Blade Nzimande at the end of last year. more

20 February - NSFAS chairman Sizwe Nxasana says that the scheme expects to add more than 100,000 students to the already 309,788 already funded.  Funding has been approved this year to 105,135 entrants and 204,653 returning students at universities and TVET colleges. Applications for 2017 funding closed on 17 February 2017. more
17 February 2017 – Over 60 of SA’s top artisans will compete at the WorldSkills competition in Abu Dhabi in October.  The artisans were named after a three-day competition in Durban last week.  Deputy Minister Manana explains that WorldSkills SA was part of a global movement on skills, development, education and training. Full speech & list.
